"simmrrrn" searches for ways to professionalise strategies of Amateurism, Minimalism, Dada and Glitch in XR and higher-order loudspeaker environments, to contrast the spotless appearances of common media products and foster a fundamental aesthetic debate on immersive effects and phenomena. It formulates an alternative and open invitation to the yet unknown listener to share an extended ontology of sonic spatial arts by composing sound as space.
After the development of the IKOsahedral loudspeaker instrument, the 3-9-3 3D-audio sound projector was developed in cooperation between scientists and me at IEM Graz. Similar to the IKO but much smaller, the 3-9-3 generates strongly bundled beams and projects phantom sound sources onto reflective surfaces. The loudspeaker instrument can be used in various sound installation setups as well as in concert situations.
