While "grrawe" tries to sculpt sound into 3D-sound objects, within "firniss" I compose surfaces, more permeable and filigree as a reference to the underlying object. Imagine varnish as an auditory coating, a transformative material that envelops sound textures with a transparent layer. As this "sonic varnish" settles, its solvent portion evaporates and the remaining constituents oxidise or polymerise to form a durable sonic coating.
