Blink

In 2007, together with Dirk Specht - sound compositions for the two video works by Tessa Knapp.
The videos are mostly looped and projected onto opposite walls so the tracks are shiftet in time as to the different loop lenghts and mixed in space.

Untitled (4 motifs)

Four motifs were extracted from film material which documented observations of misty landscapes. The editing utilized loop techniques in order to make visible latent forms in the amorphous fog. The four passages that resulted from this process were: curtain, window, outline and wall; they follow on from each other, separated from the next by black screen.   Curtain - An endless curtain of fog glides along a rock face. Window - Screen filling fog moves to the right, the movement develops a syncopated rhythm. Eventually, there is a momentary glimpse of the rock face. Outline – In front of the contours of a dark cliff, a wisp of fog pulsates. A few frames caught in time - it quivers - an almost recognisable shape. Wall – A passage of movements that are regularly repeated appear out of a relatively unstructured surface. The seamless repetition and distortions in the grain of the film cause these swirls to be seen.

Untitled (melting)

Bright veils of fog ascend. Dark outlines of trees peel out and vanish in black or are enveloped by the white masses again. Within one fixed view the perspectives can be contemplated in a fluent change. A multiple landscape is being exposed and at the same time swal- lowed by the fog again. Its composition and disapperance gravitate towards one another.
